Imogiri (also Imagiri) is a royal graveyard complex in Yogyakarta, in south-central Java, Indonesia, as well as a modern village located near the graveyard in Bantul regency. Imogiri is a traditional resting place for the royalty of central Java, including many rulers of the Sultanate of Mataram and of the current houses of Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultanate. The name Imagiri is derived from Sanskrit Himagiri, which means ‘mountain of snow’. The latter is another name for Himalaya.
The Royal Graveyard that preceded was Kota Gede. The graveyard was constructed by Sultan Agung of Mataram in the later years of his reign, probably in the 1640s. The graveyard is a significant pilgrimage ziarah site, particularly on significant dates in the Javanese calendar (such as Satu Suro, New Year’s Day), and the Islamic calendar.
It also belongs to a larger network of significant locations in Javanese pilgrimage traditions. It is possibly the only major location remaining in Java where the Palaces of Surakarta and Yogyakarta have personnel manning a jointly administered royal graveyard.
Among the site’s most prominent graves are that of early Mataram ruler Sultan Agung of Mataram, and Sultan of Yogyakarta Hamengkubuwono IX, a leader during Indonesia’s war for independence. The most recent is that of Pakubuwana XII of Surakarta who was buried in 2004.

Fort Vredeburg is a fortress built by the Dutch in Yogyakarta during Colonial times. It is located in front of Gedung Agung, one of seven presidential palaces in Indonesia and the Sultan Palace called Kraton. It was built in 1765 to protect the Dutch governor. It is surrounded by a trench that is still visible.
This square-shaped fortress has a watchtower at each of its four corners. In the past, the Dutch troops patrolled frequently on its wall.
Nowadays, the fortress has become a museum. In some buildings in the fortress there are dioramas on Indonesian history.

The area of the city of Yogyakarta is 32.5 km². While the city sprawls in all directions from the kraton, the core of the modern city is to the north, centering around the site of a few buildings with distinctive Dutch colonial-era architecture and the contemporary commercial district. Jalan Malioboro, with rows of sidewalk vendors and nearby market and malls, is the primary shopping street for tourists in the city, while Jalan Solo, further north, is a shopping district more frequented by locals. Tamansari (Water Castle) is located 2 km west of Yogyakarta Palace was built in the Sultan Hamengku Buwono I period in the end of XVII Century. Built by Portuguese architect in European aquatic construction adorned with Javanese Symbolize ornaments. Tamansari not only just a recreation, but it’s also a compound of bathing pool, canals, rooms and extremerly large swimming pool (if the canals opened).
Tamansari (Water Castle) was built after the Treaty of Giyanti (1755), after the Sultan Hamengku Buwana long involved in disputes and wars. The building is intended as a building that can be used for rest, and recreation. However, Tamansari was also prepared as a fortress to face the danger situation. In addition, this building was also used for religious facilities. Therefore Tamansari also equipped with a mosque. (Nov 10, 2009)

The principal residence of the sultan is the kraton (palace), sometimes called the Yogyakarta Kraton but otherwise known in formal terms Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat. Sultan’s Palace is the main object in the city of Yogyakarta. Historic buildings which are the palace and residence of the Sultan Hamengku Buwana and his family.

The building was founded in 1756. Sultan’s Palace with all the customs and culture into community life spirit of Yogyakarta. Sultan Palace is also a major tourist attraction in the city of Yogyakarta either side of the building heritage and traditions in it. In the sultan’s palace can be enjoyed by the beauty of the past through the architecture of the building, can also enjoy traditional art which is presented every day in Ward Manganti.

Currently occupied by the Sultan Palace Sultan Hamengku family X Buwana become king and governor of Yogyakarta. After the 1867 hit by the earthquake, the Palace suffered heavy damage. During HB VII in 1889, the building was restored. Although the layout is retained, but the shape of the building changed, as seen today. (Nov 4, 2009)

Tugu Station is the largest train station in Yogyakarta,  located near Malioboro street, started to serve transportation need since 2 May 1887. (Aug 1, 2009)
